Fullerton, CA (PRWEB) August 24, 2011
Secret City Comics Society (SCCS), an improvisational comedy theater located in Fullerton, California, welcomes back La Habra High School as a part of SCCS High School Improv League for another school year.
“In January 2011, we teamed up with Secret City Comics Society to help us build our improv comedy program. SCCS came to our school, trained our students and the following month, we produced our first improv show, says Andrew Border, La Habra High School’s Improv Director. “The professional quality and energy, that SCCS helped bring to our first show, was the confidence boost our student needed to produce more shows throughout the rest of the year.
Alan Ng is the SCCS League Manager. Alan has helped other Southern California high schools in the past train a student-led improv team. This year, he is focusing his attention on North Orange County High Schools. The mission of SCCS’s High School Improv League is to provide the support and structure high school's need to allow students to gain confidence in their ability to think quickly and tell a humorous story on stage.
“La Habra High School is our program's flagship school. Last year, they gave us the enthusiasm and trust we needed to expand our high school improv league to other schools this academic year," says Alan Ng.
SCCS High School Improv League was created with the idea that performing improv comedy is a fun way for students to build self-confidence and express themselves creatively by working together making something out of nothing. SCCS hopes to add six to ten new schools this year. The high school improv comedy league allows students from neighboring schools to perform comedy together in a competition format, while building friendships through laughter.
